Our board-certified radiation oncologists, M. Elizabeth Sands, M.D., Neelofur R. Ahmad, M.D. and Majid Mohiuddin, M.D. have extensive experience in providing compassionate care and treatment for people with cancer.


M. Elizabeth Sands, MD

Dr. Sands, a native Houstonian, is a graduate of the University of Virginia and received her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine. She completed her radiation oncology residency at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Sands is a member of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the American College of Radiology (ACR).

Dr. Sands participates in numerous hospital committees and is past president of the North Branch of the Harris County Medical Society. She served on the Harris County Medical Society Executive Board as well on the Board of Trustees of the Houston Academy of Medicine. Dr. Sands also speaks at various community events.

Neelofur R. Ahmad, MD

Dr. Ahmad was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and is a graduate of Northwestern University. She received her medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School and completed her radiation oncology residency at Loyola University Medical Center and Thomas Jefferson University. She was Chief Resident in radiation oncology at Thomas Jefferson University.

Prior to coming to Houston, Dr. Ahmad was an Associate Member of the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Subsequently, she was Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. She authored numerous peer-reviewed publications during her academic career. Dr. Ahmad is a member of the American Society of Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).

Majid Mohiuddin, MD

Dr. Mohiuddin is originally from Philadelphia and graduated from Brown University. He received his medical degree from Brown University Medical School and completed his radiation oncology residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School. He also trained in brachytherapy at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Harvard.

Following his residency training, Dr. Mohiuddin was an Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland in Baltimore for three years. He specialized in breast and gynecological malignancies, authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, and received several research awards. He also has been an invited speaker to the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) and the FDA. Dr. Mohiuddin is a member of ASTRO, the American College of Radiology (ACR), the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), and the Radiation Research Society (RRS).
